Learn to Play

The Club holds bridge classes in Gumnut Cottage for Beginners and Improvers. There is also a Refresher course for those wishing to brush up on old skills.

Beginner courses commence twice yearly, generally February and July, and are of six months duration. Beginning students move on to Continuer and then Improver classes where they learn finer details of bidding and card play. No prior knowledge of cards is necessary. Partners are not required.

We have online lessons through Zoom and Bridge Base Online catering for all levels including Intermediate.

The Club also holds bridge sessions twice a week where students can practise their skills: social bridge on Mondays and soft duplicate on Thursdays.

Playing bridge has many advantages. It develops and trains the skills of logic, planning, problem solving, memory and arithmetic. It also provides opportunities for social interactions between like-minded people, often resulting in valuable exchanges of general information, and the formation of friendships that are life-long.
