A small but keen group of members attended the ‘official’ opening of the IT Hub at 10 am on Thursday 8 April.

Club President Phil Burns thanked Robert Peresan who successfully applied for the Seniors Grant for the Hub and for his personal follow-up commitment.

The addition of four computer stations will complement the existing iPad and Android Special Interest Groups and provide the ability to hold short information sessions as well as one on one assistance from other entities.

The Hub is intended to be a useful resource for our members to use as they wish. As well as providing a place where some IT assistance can be offered to members.    Robert explained some of the properties of the stations including provision for maintaining users privacy when using them.

Attending members provided feedback and suggestions which will help in formulating future information sessions, and the development of the IT hub.

The Hub is now open for use as well, hours 9.30 am – 2.30 pm with hourly bookings made via the Club Office.   For your information, instruction notices are mounted above each terminal.

Also, as security is one of the main concerns regarding technology, the first Information Session ‘Online Security’ was held on Friday 16 April at 10.30 am.  Session Notes are available here.

If you have any thoughts on topics for Information Sessions for the future, please email the office.
